About the Facilitator: Adriana Alejandre

Adriana Alejandre (she/her/ella) is a trauma therapist in California that began her career as a speaker in 2018 upon launching her podcast and national orgnaization, Latinx Therapy, which focuses on destigmatizing mental health myths through education, storytelling and networking.

The inspiration to create Latinx Therapy in 2018 derived from her experience as a single, teen mom with postpartum depression, and her later frustration in finding relatable, relevant resources for her Latine clients as a therapist, which has become a popular topic requested as a speaker.

In 2019, she won Hispanizice’s TECLA award for Best Social Good Content award, in 2020 she won the #YoSoy Instagram and Hispanic Heritage Foundation Award as one of 5 Latinx influencers of the year creating social change. In 2022, She was selected to win the Jim Preis Memorial award by the Mental Health Advocacy Series, an award honoring individuals who advance the rights of people with mental disabilities.

She has provided coaching services to wellness professionals since 2018 and has a focus in each cohort in creating community. She is a passionate speaking coach as a speaker with ADHD who does not speak with traditional articulation during engagements, tends to her nervous system consistently and processes differently- all of which are taught in her groups.

Adriana was born and raised in a lower socioeconomic area of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. She was raised by a strict Guatemalan mother and a Mexican father who both had many side-hustles since they immigrated from their countries. Adriana looked up to them and grew up knowing that she, too, wanted to be an entrepreneur.

Adriana’s mission in the spaces she has established is to create spaces in the real world, and virtual world to spark dialogue about mental health struggles and strengths in the Latinx community. Adriana currently lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband, 14-year old son and their two dogs, one of which has diabetes.

Agenda

What past participants have said:

As a therapist, my experience in the Speaker's Accountability Group has been incredibly positive and enriching. The group offered valuable resources and provided a safe and nurturing space to delve into the intricacies of this work. It has not only enhanced my understanding of public speaking but also allowed me to explore topics I am passionate about speaking on from a lived experience. I wholeheartedly recommend the Speaker's Accountability Group to any therapist seeking to develop their skills and connect with like-minded professionals.

The Speakers Accountability group was a wonderful experience! This group gave me an opportunity to explore and reflect further on my areas of need and strengths as a public speaker. The discussions and activities encouraged me to think further on what it means to use my voice to help our community learn about important topics and continue to destigmatize mental health. The flow of the class was ideal as it challenged me to put my visions in action. All the hard work definitely paid off as I was able to book my first speaking engagement through my social media speaking engagement post. I am grateful for all the knowledge, empowerment, support, and community Adriana provided.

The speakers accountability group with Adriana was amazing! It was structured yet flexible. After completing the four weeks, I felt much more confident in marketing myself as a speaker. I learned to pitch myself to organizations, set my fees and decide on topics that aligned with the first gen community that I serve. Highly recommend to other therapists!

I absolutely enjoyed my time with this group and felt I learned so much from it. I really appreciated the accountability portion along with the resources provided. The support and feedback from the group has been instrumental in refining my speaking pitch and growing my confidence in securing more high-paying speaking engagements. I highly recommend this group to any aspiring professional speaker.

The Speaker's Accountability Group was exactly what I needed to light the fire inside me to bring this idea of public speaking from just being an idea to actionable steps to get there. It was extremely helpful for me to have received the information in a way that was interactive and hands on and also to have others keeping me accountable for getting tasks completed. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to pursue public speaking but have no idea where to start or those who have some idea but would like further insight and accountability.

The resources, tools, and tips provided were great, & the feedback was incredibly constructive. I gained a clearer understanding of the terminology & the overall landscape of the speaking industry. Having a group to keep me accountable and cheer me on was immensely motivating. I’d highly recommend this group to anyone interested in starting a career in speaking or who is already pursuing this path.
